How it works
- Each item gets an aisle. The sorter knows hundreds of grocery items, from paneer and gochujang to paper towels, and which part of the store each one lives in.
- Each store gets an order. Patel Brothers puts rice and spices near the front; H Mart starts with produce and meat; Costco opens on household goods. The sorter walks your list through the store you picked.
- You walk it top to bottom. Tick things off as they go in the basket, and nothing sends you back across the store.
It sorts by section, not by aisle number: aisle numbers change from branch to branch, but the order of the sections rarely does. If an item lands in "Not sure where", it's one the sorter doesn't know yet.
Questions
Does it know the aisle numbers in my store?
No. It sorts your list into the sections of the store (produce, meat, dairy, spices and so on) in the order a typical branch of that chain is laid out. Aisle numbers differ between branches, but the order of the sections is what saves you walking back and forth.
Which stores does it support?
49 stores: mainstream supermarkets like Walmart, Kroger, Costco, Target, Aldi and Trader Joe's, and specialist grocers like Patel Brothers, H Mart, 99 Ranch, Seafood City, Northgate, a halal butcher, an African grocer and a Caribbean market. If yours isn't listed, pick the one most like it.
Is my list saved or sent anywhere?
No. The sorting happens in your browser. Your list stays on your device: this page only remembers your last list and store on that device, so it's there next time you open it.
Can I use it in the store on my phone?
Yes. Paste or type your list at home, then open this page in the store and tick items off as you go. It works on any phone browser, with nothing to install.
Why sort a grocery list by aisle at all?
A list in random order sends you back and forth across the store. Sorted in walking order, you pass each section once, forget fewer things and get out faster.
